Farrell Benevolent Society (FBS) Redevelopment Project
The Farrell Benevolent Society, on behalf of the community of Dartmouth North, owns and stewards the property at 276 Windmill Road, currently the home of Farrell Hall which was built in 1960.
The Public Good Society began a partnership in 2021 with FBS to support the extensive planning and partnership required to ultimately replace the aging Hall with a mixed-use development, including permanently affordable housing.

To learn more about the project check out the Case Study: Community Organizations on a Journey of Affordable Housing Development and Executive Summary
This Case Study is written from the perspective of community organizations and their experience traversing a journey of affordable housing development. The content is based on conversations with ten individuals involved in the project (from both community nonprofits and private sector firms) and what they thought was important to share and record. The hope is that this offers a few guideposts along the way and some possible methods to replicate for community organizations who wish to develop affordable housing.
