Director Role Description
The Public Good Society of Dartmouth Board of Directors is the legal authority for the organization. Members of the board act in a position of trust for PGSD and are responsible for effective governance. All directors hold a key leadership role in ensuring the effective stewardship of financial and human resources and ensuring PGSD’s programs and services are aligned with PGSD’s mission and vision. The board will carry out its job with discipline, emphasizing strategic priorities rather than short term issues, policy rather than single events, and group rather than individual decisions.

We particularly encourage nominations from Indigenous People, African Nova Scotians, and other racially visible persons; younger residents (19-35 years of age); and any underrepresented group including but not limited to those represented by race, ancestry, place of origin, physical or mental ability, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation and financial ability.
Additionally, the Board is seeking people with qualifications, attributes, and work or volunteer experience with:
Finance
Public Relations, Communications, and Marketing
Governance
Eligible nominees for election on the Board of Directors must:
Be a resident of Nova Scotia
Be 19 years of age or older
Be able and willing to fulfill the duties and responsibilities outlined in the description for a term of two years
