Connections That Work

Through the Connections That Work program (CTW), Outreach Facilitator Kevin Little offers individualized support to Dartmouth residents in need. As an on-the-street worker, Kevin meets people where they are. He listens carefully and connects people with appropriate services.

The aim of the project is to help participants connect with services that they identify as the next steps towards self-reliance and employment. Kevin assists individuals at local food banks and community agencies in Dartmouth, helping them find support in areas like housing and mental health.

Since its beginning, CTW has engaged over 2,027 unique clients, with many receiving ongoing support. Kevin’s one-to-one engagement has been a key part of the program’s ongoing success, with mental health, housing, and employment continuing to be the three main areas of inquiry and referral.

This project has been successful in supporting people who need services through direct contact in an environment in which they feel at ease, and in which they do not have to go out of their way for assistance.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kevin has also been assisting local food banks with home deliveries to individual clients of the food banks who are unable to collect their food in-person.

Thanks for looking at this and knowing what to do to help me. I was getting pretty discouraged by it all.”

“I owe you guys my life.
