In response to a need in our community, Dartmouth resident Hannah Minzloff (of Truefaux Films), set up the Emergency Gluten-Free Pantry. This free, weekly gluten-free food box helps to support individuals in our community with Celiac disease or gluten intolerance who are struggling to afford a gluten free diet during COVID-19. Hannah has Celiac Disease herself, and fully understands the challenges of managing a 100% gluten-free diet on a tight budget.

Since mid-April, Hannah has been supporting a growing number of people with a free weekly box of gluten-free products. The Pantry began with a request from a community member in Dartmouth NS who, after losing her job, was no longer able to afford the higher cost of gluten-free foods, nor was she able to find gluten-free foods at her local food bank. What began with one person has grown to over fifteen households.
